In Time and Silence, Caroline Halley des Fontaines invites us to take a look at everything that has been lost on the way to modernity. The truth we find there is unadulterated and simple. The people photographed by Halley des Fontaines still have something to do with the sacred idea of tradition. Even in their daily duties, they radiate grace and contentment. On her mythical journey of discovery, Halley des Fontaines portrays landscapes and people in India and Egypt, in Tibet and Afghanistan, in Nepal and Kenya. Halley des Fontaines‘ calmly composed pictures show people of all ages and their surroundings in special moments of life. Looking at these gentle black and white photographs, we rediscover the humanity that connects us all.
