Max Scheler was the son of the German philosopher of the same name. He was encouraged early on by Herbert List and trained as a photographer. This book brings together the highlights of Max Scheler’s photojournalistic work in 160 pictures. His reportage on Germany, his early trips to China and the enduring fascination with politics and living conditions in Asia. It is always his fundamental human interest, an interest in the living conditions of people, whether in war or in peace, whether at festivities or in everyday life, that motivates, determines and fulfills Max Scheler’s photographs.
