Laurenz Berges, born in 1966, Düsseldorf-based photographer and youngest master student of the Becher School, presents a new series of his color photographs. In these pictures, he remains true to both his style and his subjects. It is the details of abandoned apartments, vacated houses and overgrown gardens that interest him and which he makes the subject of his poetic pictorial composition. One could almost speak of a photographic Arte Povera. Laurenz Berges‘ photographic tableaux are so bulky and ironed against the grain of contemporary lifestyle and wellness trends that one would almost have to worry about the author if their form were not so sophisticated and masterful. Gifted with this potential, they will prevail in the long run, against all resistance and prejudices.
