Baader Planetarium Solar Viewer Glasses – Single Pair

These Solar Viewers by Baader Planetarium are a high-quality product which is specifically designed for naked-eye solar observations. Safe solar observation! 100% UV-protection, 100% IR-protection, sun light intensity reduced by 99,999%.

During an Eclipse for example, as the moon passes slowly in front of the sun, you can easily observe how the sun disappears behind it through the Solar Viewer glasses. However, these Solar Viewer glasses are not only used to monitor solar eclipses, you can also see larger sun spots through them too.

Safety instructions and information about AstroSolar® Silver/Gold Film:

1. AstroSolar® Silver/Gold Film has been specially developed for visual solar observation at zero magnification for use with solar viewer glasses (Danger – not suitable for use with a Telescope, Binoculars or even a camera lens).
2. The optical density of Solar Viewer Solar Viewer AstroSolar® Silver/Gold is OD 5.0. These Solar Viewer are also fully CE-certified and comply to the Norm EN ISO 12312-2:2015 – therefore they are certified for a safe and direct view into the sun.
3. Baader AstroSolar® Silver Film has been produced for more than 25 years. In the year 1999, during the grand total eclipse over Europe, more than 20 million solar viewers equipped with this film were in use.
4. In contrast to the black, soot-filled light-absorbing films from other manufacturers, the reflective metal-layers of these AstroSolar® Silver/Gold Films are much more efficient at blocking the red (and especially the invisible infrared) light, and therefore achieving a better security rating at the necessary optical densitiy of OD 5.0.

Remember the Golden Rule: Never try to look at the sun with your naked eyes, even wearing regular sun glasses or insufficient filters, as it may cause permanent eye damage.

Baader Solar Viewer AstroSolar® Silver/Gold are CE-tested and certified by DIN CERTCO to the following standards:

• DIN EN ISO 12312-2:2015-11: Filters for direct observation of the sun.
• EU 425/2016: Regulation on personal protective equipment (PPE).

The following safety instructions must be observed when handling Baader Solar Viewers:

• Never look at the sun without adequate eye protection, permanent eye-damage may occur.
• This high quality Solar Viewer was produced and tested in conformity with all relevant safety regulations and norms for personal safety
• It enables you to look directly at the sun without danger when used correctly
• Before use, check if your Solar Viewer glasses are in perfect condition. Do not use if damaged. If the filter is torn or scratched, dispose of them.
• Ensure a correct fit of the Solar Viewer glasses, so that direct solar radiation cannot reach your eyes unfiltered
• Do not use in combination with other optical instruments! (binoculars, telescopes, camera etc.)
• This product is not a toy and children wearing these Solar Viewer glasses should be closely supervised at all times.
• Limit any continuous use to a maximum of 3 minutes.
• If you suffer or have suffered from an eye disease, only use the Solar Viewer after consultation with your Opthalmologist

Instructions for use and storage:

• Do not move around when using solar viewers, in case they fall off.
• Store glasses with utmost care in a dry and airtight container – or dispose of after use
• Do not store glasses together with rough or sharp objects to prevent damage. Even a slight scratch in the film can result in eye damage when looking at the Sun.
• Recommended storage time: up to 10 years after first use, or even longer if after inspection they are still in perfect condition.
